The Process
Going solar with R&K Energized and Sunrun is simpler than most people expect. We handle the complexity so you don't have to. Here's exactly what happens from the moment we connect to the day your panels go live.
First Contact
Every solar journey with R&K Energized begins with a real conversation โ not a form submission or a chatbot. Our team reaches homeowners through door-to-door outreach, Facebook and Meta ads, and warm referrals. When we connect, we ask about your energy usage, your current bill, and your goals. No pitch. Just listening.
Custom Design
Once you decide to move forward, Sunrun's team of solar engineers takes over the technical design. Using satellite imagery, your energy data, and local solar irradiance maps, they build a system sized specifically for your home โ not a generic one-size-fits-all package.
Permits & Approvals
This is usually the part that makes homeowners nervous โ and it's the part you'll never have to touch. Sunrun's permit team manages every document, application, and approval on your behalf. You won't fill out a single form or make a single phone call to your utility company.
Installation Day
When your permits are approved, Sunrun schedules your installation. A crew of licensed electricians and rooftop technicians shows up at your home and gets to work. Most residential solar installs are complete in a single day. When they leave, your system is mounted, wired, and ready for inspection.
Inspection & Activation
After installation, a local inspector signs off on the work โ this is required by your city or county. Once that's done, your utility company authorizes the system to connect to the grid, and Sunrun flips the switch. From that moment, your home is powered by the sun.
Ongoing Support
Your relationship with R&K Energized doesn't end at activation. Sunrun monitors your system 24/7 for performance issues and handles any repairs that come up โ at no cost to you under the Lease or PPA programs. And we stay available as your local point of contact for questions, referrals, and anything else you need.
Typical Timeline
Most homeowners are generating clean solar power within 6โ10 weeks of signing. Here's the typical breakdown.
Common Questions
Most single-family homes with a south-, east-, or west-facing roof and moderate to high electric bills are excellent candidates. We'll run a free analysis using your address and energy usage to tell you exactly what your system could produce and what you'd save โ no commitment required.
You'll still receive a bill from your utility company, but it will be dramatically lower โ often $0โ$30 for basic grid connection fees. You'll also pay your Sunrun monthly amount (for Lease or PPA), which is lower than what you were paying your utility before. The net result is a real, measurable monthly savings for most homeowners.
Solar actually makes your home more attractive to buyers โ studies show solar homes sell faster and for more money. For Lease and PPA programs, the agreement can be transferred to the new owner (most buyers see it as a benefit) or, in some cases, paid off at closing. For Loan and Cash purchase, the system is part of the home's sale value.
Solar panels produce power whenever daylight hits them โ even on overcast days (just at reduced capacity). At night, your home draws power from the grid as normal, or from a Brightbox battery if you've added one. Sunrun's systems are designed to produce enough power during daylight hours to offset your evening usage based on your local climate.
R&K Energized (R&K Group) is an independent authorized sales dealer for Sunrun โ not a Sunrun employee or corporate office. We're a locally owned business that partners with Sunrun to bring their residential solar products to homeowners in our community. When you sign up through us, your contract and warranty are directly with Sunrun. We handle the personal, local side of the relationship; Sunrun handles the installation, monitoring, and long-term support.
Absolutely not. Our free consultation is exactly that โ free, and obligation-free. We'll show you what a Sunrun system would cost, what it would produce, and what you'd save. You decide if and when to move forward. We never use high-pressure tactics, and we'll never contact you more than you want us to.
Sunrun guarantees that your solar system will produce a specified amount of power every year for 25 years. If the system underperforms in any year, Sunrun will either repair the system or credit you for the difference. For Lease and PPA customers, all maintenance and repairs during that 25-year period are also covered at no cost to you.
